Varicella vaccine comprises of live attenuated varicella zoster virus Oka strain.
Varicella zoster infection commonly known as chickenpox is a very contagious disease caused by varicella zoster virus. This disease causes itchy, blister like rashes. The rashes are generalized and usually appear first on chest, back and face. Eventually the rashes spread over the entire body. Other typical symptoms that may appear 1-2 days before rash include fever, tiredness, loss of appetite and headache. Chickenpox symptoms usually last for 4-7 days
The varicella zoster virus can spread from person to person by direct contact, inhalation of aerosols from vesicular fluid of skin lesions.
So Varicella vaccine is a great way to avoid chickenpox. Varicella vaccine not only protects an individual but it benefits the community as a whole specially your immediate family, friends, close relatives, neighbors and colleagues.
People who are at a risk for developing severe varicella zoster infection are newborn babies whose mothers have varicella infection, immunocompromised patients and premature babies.
Step 1; Reconstitute the vaccine with enclosed sterile water for injection and thoroughly shake it before use.
Step 2; Inject subcutaneously in the deltoid muscle of lateral upper arm.
